The Importance of the Müllerbach for the Textile Industry in Dornbirn
This bachelor thesis aims to investigate the importance of the Müllerbach for the textile industry in Dornbirn during the industrialization of the 19th century. The Müllerbach, as a man-made body of water, uniquely influenced Dornbirn‘s ability to emerge as a flourishing center of the textile industry. As part of the analysis, waterpower is presented as a central source of energy for textile companies. Special attention is paid to the extension of the Müllerbach by Karl Ulmer, which led to the development of a new strand of textile businesses in Dornbirn.
