The Dwarf on the Tapestry. Considerations on Turold on the Bayeux Tapestry
This paper tries to show that the common Norman name Turold as depicted in scene ten of the Bayeux Tapestry refers to the person holding the reigns of the horses and was likely affected by dwarfism. Compared to the other one-time-only names in the artwork and combining different research opinions on those, it is argued that this highlighted character may have been an informant for the unknown artist(s) of the tapestry regarding the travels of Harold Godwinson in north-west France and everything concerning horses while others testified about the military action at Hastings.
