Résumé

In the 18th century the Viennese Court consisted of a collection of formalized actions. Neither diplomatic services nor private much less public ceremonies were free of standardization. Constable Johann Josef Khevenhüller-Metsch (1706–1776) wrote a diary which gives an insight into this complex machinery of the baroque court ceremonial. Based on this diary the following seminar-paper discusses the importance of religious acts and the culinary delights that were inseparable from those in the Austrian monarchy.
