The following paper examines the history of the so called Kuntersweg, the medieval traffic route between Brenner and Bozen, which was built in 1314 by Heinrich Kunter. It gives a chronological overview of the trail’s history from its construction to its transition to direct sovereign control in 1484 and emphasizes the importance of the Kuntersweg for medieval Tyrol.
