Abstract

This essay is about J. G. Droysen‘s position about the point of view of historians. It is based on R. Hübner‘s reconstruction of Droysen‘s lecture „Enzyklopädie und Methodologie der Geschichte“. The starting point is a wellknown attack of Droysen on W. Wachsmuth‘s definition of objectivity. It reveals the total contradictions between Droysen‘s and Wachsmuth‘s concepts of the historian's point of view. These concepts as well as their contradictions are the subjects of the following analysis.
