Abstract

The following essay is describing the postcolonial history of Tanzania. This is analysed by means of the paradigm of Africa’s Vicious Circle. The main focus is set on the reign of Julius Nyerere and how the state developed under the TANU government. It should be demonstrated that Tanzania’s history since independence cannot be described in cycle but has to be seen as a linear progression
